Keep a drifting eToro portfolio on target

You built a portfolio on eToro with weights you chose. Prices have moved, the weights have not stayed put, and you want a rebalance you approve rather than one you calculate by hand.

The situation

Every holding in a portfolio grows at its own pace, so the mix you chose slowly turns into a different mix. That gap is called portfolio drift, and it changes how much risk the portfolio carries even though you have not traded. Closing it by hand means working out the difference for every position and placing each order yourself.

This page follows one investor with an eToro account through that job. It is a scenario, not a result: the figures below are invented to show the mechanics.

What it looks like with Acubic

  1. 01

    Build the strategy first

The broker connection attaches to a saved strategy, so the target weights exist before anything is connected. Acubic screens, selects and allocates inside your risk level and position limits.

  2. 02

Connect eToro through eToro's own login

You approve access on eToro, not on an Acubic form, so your eToro password is never entered on an Acubic screen. You can revoke the access from eToro at any time.

  3. 03

Choose how much and how often

Set the amount Acubic manages and a calendar frequency: monthly, quarterly or annually. Holdings outside that managed amount are left alone.

  4. 04

On the rebalance date, review the prepared orders

Acubic compares your live positions with the strategy's target weights and prepares the smallest set of orders that closes the gap. On a standard eToro connection that is One-Click Approval: nothing is sent until you approve.

  5. 05

    Approve, and keep the record

You approve the order set. Each order is recorded with its outcome, and if eToro rejects one, the reason is logged and the rest are handled independently.

The arithmetic behind a rebalance

Suppose $10,000 is managed with four holdings, each targeted at 25%. After a stretch of uneven moves the weights look like this, and the rebalance is the difference between where each holding is and where it should be.

Positions already at target would be left alone; only the difference trades. You can try your own numbers in the rebalancing calculator.

How much it does on its own

On a standard eToro connection, One-Click Approval is the only automatic mode, so every rebalance waits for you. Full Automatic exists only on an eToro sub-account, a separate portfolio inside eToro that you fund from your main balance (at least $200), so connecting your main account never turns it on. In Manual mode Acubic sends no orders and lists the trades for you to place yourself.

What this does not do

  • It does not promise or forecast a return. Rebalancing manages risk against a plan; it does not predict prices.
  • It does not move money in or out of your eToro account. The only transfer is the sub-account funding you choose.
  • It does not rebalance on a drift threshold. The trigger is the calendar frequency you set, so drift between two dates waits for the next one.
  • It is not copy trading or a Smart Portfolio. You hold the account, and the weights come from the strategy you built.
  • Disconnecting stops new orders and sells nothing; your positions stay in your eToro account.
